Hello blog! Kamusta k naman?
I had a very interesting weekend. I spent few days in Auckland with my friends here. It was a hell of fun!
I have always wished to see Auckland, the biggest city in New Zealand, which is why it is often mistaken to be NZ’s capital city. So when we decided to organise a trip up there, we made sure that everything’s planned perfectly.
It was a 24-hr restless train ride back and forth, but it was all worth it! Like what other people say, Auckland, in some angle, is very similar to Manila. Only it is twice as big and as beautiful, and less polluted and grubby. There are flyovers and underpasses everywhere. It has the biggest buildings and the widest roads I’ve ever seen. And it’s so freakin’ crowded.
Highlights of the trip:
- Auckland has better weather. More sun, less wind, less rain (at least when we went there).
- Wendy’s and Dunkin Donuts. It’s been almost 2 years now since I last had wendy’s and dunkin donuts. We don’t have that here in Wellington. Yum! We actually brought home 8 boxes of donuts.
- Saw penguins! Wahahaha. They are so cute, especially when they are asleep. I remember someone who looks like one. wahaha.
- Hiked to a hill top for a jaw-dropping view.
- Climbed up the sky tower- Auckland’s highest point at the heart of the city. It was incredible! You can almost see the whole of Auckland from up there.
- Sky Jump! It was so far the most ambitious thing I’ve done in my life. To jump from the sky tower, 192m high, is the greatest adventure I’ve ever done. It was overwhelming!
- We went to casino and I won $40 twice on the slot machine. First-timer luck. Hahaha.
- Whole day at rainbow’s end theme park. It’s been a year now since I’ve been to one. Pretty much the same as enchanted, but EK is far more sophisticated. Same set of rides except for the dreading Fear Fall where you are pulled up to a height then suddenly released at a 9.8m/s2 acceleration. Worth a try!
The whole journey was worth all my energy, time and money. Being there with the right people, at the right time, at the right state, Auckland trip is one of the most memorable travels I’ve had. It’s one hell of a place!
